History

Centex, a central Texas home builder, began offering home sites in Crown Colony in South Fort Myers in early 2000. Although Centex had a superior rating for building good homes, Crown Colony was the first golf course and total community they developed. Their vision was to build homes that would be surrounded by a golf course and a protected preserve thus allowing many beautiful views. Their original motto was “Where Luxury Reigns.” Working with this motto in mind, they positioned the homes on meandering streets and cul-de-sacs lined with palm trees and other tropical plantings. The first home buyers actually bought, as they like to say, “Dirt.” Nothing was in place other than some grading and stakes where the lots would be. The sales center was a trailer in the middle of sand. Centex was predicting a ten to twelve year completion and sell out.

As each group of homes was completed, their corresponding associations were turned over to homeowners. Oxford Pointe I was the first group to be turned over to owners followed by Oxford Pointes II, III, and IV. The four Oxford Pointe associations have combined by forming a corporate merger. By April 2006, well before completion and sell out was originally predicted, both Cambridge Place and Abbey Row homes were turned over to their respective homeowners. It was at that time, April 2006, that the entire community was turned over to the home owners and the Crown Colony Community Association, Inc., was established. There are now 200 Oxford Pointe Carriage homes (Condos) ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 square feet, 139 Cambridge Place homes of 1,800 to 2,453 square feet, and 213 Abbey Row homes of 2,038 to 3,200 square feet. Together they make up the 552 homes of the Crown Colony Community. In 2012, Cambridge Place and Abbey Row merged into one association now called Cambridge Abbey HOA.

The Crown Colony Golf & Country Club, located inside the Crown Colony community, is a member owned club. Many homeowners have joined as golf, sport, or social members. The Golf Club is a National Audubon Society Award Recipient where you can enjoy a superior round of golf, a wonderful dining experiences, and warm social events.

In Crown Colony you will find twenty-one lakes on over four hundred fifty acres of beautiful Southwest Florida scenery. Other amenities of the Crown Colony gated community include a fitness center, a large heated pool and hot tub overlooking one of the larger lakes, and four lighted Har-Tru tennis courts.

The Crown Colony Association has a five member board elected by the residents. The Board and Alliant Property Management run our community in an efficient manner. The Crown Colony Community has not required any special assessments since developer turnover. Several committees have been formed by the Board including:
